Growing bandwidth hungry services puts increased pressure on existing backhaul infrastructure. Traditional leased lines and microwave solutions are expensive and do not scale well. The challenge for network operators is to introduce next generation technologies to handle higher bandwidths, while still supporting legacy services.

Partnered with Juniper Networks, enfoPoint offers wireless backhaul solutions for cell sites, metro backhaul networks and aggregation sites.

The majority of remote wireless base stations connect to the backhaul network via PDH circuits (typically, T1s or E1s). These PDH circuits may be used to backhaul traffic directly from the cell tower to the mobile switching centre, or they can connect into microwave radios at the cell tower for backhaul to hub site locations, which aggregate the traffic over a SONET or SDH optical transport network back to the mobile switching center.
